28 on the 28th with many mates and cam’s group show in Cardiff!
October 28, 2011
felt very lucky to start my 28th birthday on the 28th with these two lovely ladies (and E Powell), from here I went to Camilla’s house in Streatham – it’s called “Gothic Lodge” and has its own grotto (you can see Camilla, Penny and Olga in there below). After having a wonderful breakfast with those lovely ladies I met Latham, Abbie and Mick to get the MEGAbus to Cardiff. Unfortunately I sneezed the whole way to Cardiff, but did have a good nap and peruse of the countryside. Cam met us in Cardiff, and then it was to Gallery ‘G39’ for the group show ‘GOLDEN ROD: Adorned Log’, which Cam had two pieces in – updates should follow soon on TRFF. Had a fun evening here and then about Cardiff with the great crew that came along – including Yvette, Guthrie and Morri – thanks for joyous birthday times!
Lond-ON
October 27, 2011
Latham and Mick are just kidding here, they LOVE’d having their photo taken in this park in London – Abbie’s glorious smile be more representative of joyous meeting times with Emma. Mick was tour guide extraordinaire, after meeting at the ‘big clock at Waterloo station’, we went to Borough markets to consume some deliiiicimo pies and coffee (below), then by the Thames to have a drink by a big naval ship, and then further down to an underground bar replete with low ceiling’d cave (also below). After this merry make reunion, I went for dinner and drinks with McRobie, Rich, E Powell, Charlotte and Tess! And so the catch ups began…
Super Villain meet and greet
October 22, 2011
meet ‘The Drain (on society)’ and ‘The Choke-o-dile”‘- guests at the ‘Kryptonite Super Villain meet and greet’, a brilliant party put on by ‘Super Ego’ aka Mark Hansen and his flat, complete with attendees ‘Burnt Toast’, ‘The Tee-totaler’ and ‘The Bankers’, to name but a few. Each villain had opportunities to share hot super hero extermination tips and sing the night away on the karaoke, or perhaps have some time out in the ‘padded cell’.
on holiday in berlin
October 15, 2011
had a great day out on Saturday, doing some winter shopping, cafe embracing and general Berlin exploration for the festival of lights. Above is Cam in front of the well lit Brandenburger Tor, one of many landmarks emblazened in light, with the “face” projection by Potsdamer Platz below. We also checked out a book store and gallery called Neurotitan where they had giant stuffed animals and great posters on display (me napping beside the bunny below), and Cam in the colourful alley. brilliant day out and about in berlin!
indoor table tennis
October 14, 2011
the 14th of Oktober was our Spanish flatmate Uri’s 23rd birthday so we embraced a sugary rum concoction, cake and indoor table tennis! The table is single player only and consisted of our dining table and bits of scrap card. Here we have Cam and Uri in mid-point dispute.
Spreewald park and Soviet memorial
October 8, 2011
been intending to get to these two sites since coming to Berlin: abandonned “Spreepark” aumsement park and the memorial to the Soviet soldiers. Found out that you can go to a cafe in the amusement park and from there get a 2 euro train that takes you right around the park, to see the disbanded and discarded pieces – all left to nature’s devices. From there we went to the memorial to the Soviet soldiers which is truly gigantasur and a great site to see in the fading autumn light. Great day seeing some of Berlin’s unique sites!
weinerei
October 7, 2011
we had the merry man sam latham return to the berlin midst. this day there was a 3 kebab count, many beers and here wine at “Weinerei” where you pay 2 euros for your glass, then fill them up as you like and pay for how much you drunk in a jar at the door!! needless to say, it makes for most enjoyable times, particularly amusing when people walk through selling food and cookies.
Geburtstag and Anniversary in Bad Saarow
September 29, 2011
29th of September marks Cam’s birthday (28 this year) and when we first got together (7 years this year) – so we decided to have a getaway day to Bad Saarow (that’s the name of the place). It’s an hour out of Berlin, by a large lake and has a great thermal pools complex which we enjoyed later in the day. Most of the day was spent strolling about the lake, picnicing, drinking beers, checking out the crazy cribs and seeking seeking table tennis – which found partial success with a table right by a marina…but with no net.
Sports day in Berlin
September 24, 2011
there was no sport’s day intention at the start of this saturday – a morning of watching both rugby union AND rugby league at torsten and lisa’s must have inspired it. from their house we had some Table Tennis battles (cam and torsten above), where cam was the reigning champ. beers in the street, we went to the maybucher markets and had some most delicious crepes care of Naj, and thought we would peruse the “marathon” – although this marathon consisted of rollerbladers (you can see cam’s boundless joy below). then moved onto outdoor mini golf from here, with cam once again unfortunately dominating, then happily finding a porta loo (cam entering and lisa looking on below). italian dinns and delectable wines brought this glory day to its conclusion!
