friedrichshain, rain, prenzlauerberg

went to take everyone to the fresh fruit and vegie markets at Boxhagner Platz, only to arrive when it was wrapping up. rain started to come down so we moved into “Kauf bar” where Possum, Scott, Cam and I are sitting above. they had lot’s of beer and board games to keep us amused until the next eating and drinking steps to Prenzlauerberg – below we have the guys amusing themselves as we waited for the next train back to Kreuzberg.

seqway gang

well, it hadn’t crossed my mind before, but Cam was keen to try out the segways that we see awkwardly bustling about Tempelhof airport everyday. he and the 5 guys all got on board and segway ganged their way down the landing strips in some intense heat, while I circled about them on  my rickity bike. above we have the guys playing segway tig, while possum heads my way, then below cam observing the weird ways of morri and possum’s stretching. had another evening drinking in the park – this time victoria park by our house which you can see below, before heading to bars in neukoln.

berlin bound crew

after a week in Amsterdam, Cam returned to Berlin with a large crew of friends. Here we have Cam and Scott enjoying our balcony and the first of many beers in the sun, and below we have Possum, Scott Cam and Morrisson drinking at our spot in Gorlizter park – enjoying street beers while it was hot!

biking and drinking finale for emma

the weekend finished for me at “Parade” a temporary theatre festival that travels around the main cities in the Netherlands over summer. had a sweaty bike there as was so delightfully hot (hence emma red sweaty face). Enjoyed some sangrias, eats and festive atmosphere, though i had to depart early to fly back to berlin, leaving cam to meet up with his Timaru friends who arrived that day. Thanks Andrea and Rob for a brilliant weekend away!!

canals, bikes, opp shops, beer….

so…andrea and rob are currently living in a house boat where we enjoyed ourselves immensely – brunching in the sun by morning, barbequing marshmallows by night, with all the wildlife and various boats cruising by. We cruised the city by bikes and scooter, checking out some excellent second hand stores, a whole lot of the city, with ice creams in the street (below), an organic and second hand market and then a brewery at a windmill (below). Biked home for an excellent evening on the boat, treated to a delicious Rob Nasi dinner and drinks on the jeti. Amsterdam is awesome!!!

A-m-s-t-e-r-d-a-m

cam and i went to Amsterdam for a long weekend to stay with the wonderful Andrea and Rob!! Had a delicious dinns at the vietnamese restaurant Rob works at on the Thurs, and strolled the gorgeous streets about Jordaan and the Old West. Friday was hanging out at Vondel Park and Andrea’s work dining area where you can see Cam and Andrea below – 4 euro buffet lunch and 1 euro beers in the evening – excellent! Had tibetan dinns in the city and then went to a new bar to the east of centraal station. cam did most superbly dubbing me on the back of a bike all evening – we learnt some pretty good names to call people too, when a bike lane incident occurs.

intensity rain continues

met up with Leigh’s friend Emma to have kebabs and beers before Shakespeare in the Park. It started hammering it down with rain when we met up, meaning kebabs in the park idea was quickly abandoned. Shakespeare in the park proceeded though and was done well despite rain and alternating English and German. there was a general scramble for cover about a third of the way through when rain became waaaay too intense !

Picnic time

Met Mark and Emilie in Tiergarten to enjoy some picnic goods and soak up some sun while it was here! struck up some table tennis afterwards in a spot that was a bit too close to the public toilets for Mark and Cam’s comfort.

orange and pink light

Came home after another round of table tennis, then impromptu dinner out to cover from the rain, to find the sunset shooting streams of bright orange and pink through our flat. This was it from the balcony.
