Bumbag Motel

We took the train to Hamburg together on Thursday avo to enjoy some different German city hangtime. Walked about the pretty waterway featured centre of town, then strolled down the sex trade Reeperbahn then up to Sternschanze for some asian dinns. Last few beers before Leigh and Adam flew out the next day (insert multiple sad faces).

We met up with Pete and Frankie for Leigh and Adam’s last night before Berlin departure, and SOMEhow ended up in the same pizza place but in Prenzlauerberg instead of Kreuzberg. Here we have visuals of Cam’s beloved chilli oil and below you can see us enjoying beers in the park and leigh and I getting some snaps in the u bahn (like the softened light it offers).

Sunday was a lethargic one for Cam and I, while Leih and Adam explored some more of the west going to the Trodel markets on Ku’damm. Evening dinns was at the Santa Maria mexican restaurant on Oranienstrasse – best Mexican food ever! Then tequila shots and beers as ended up going to see a band called “Trans Am” play just around the corner (photos below). Had to include my favourite snap of Cam and Adam in exploding joy at my incessant photo taking!

For the last saturday eve in Berlin we hit up our favourite pizza place “Il Cassolare” on Planufer. You can see some of the pizza action below, although said pizza is ultimately smothered in chilli oil by Cam. Had some camera happy moments too below with leigh and adam at restaurant and me and Leigh above, at a bar around the corner. Got free shots on the way out as Cam introduced the owner to the wonderful wide world of music on the internet.

ahhhh…back at the lakes. took adam, leigh and claire to schlachtensee which is just 30 mins from our house for some swimming refreshment. beers on the way home, then round 2 of mustafas kebab for leigh and adam – first time for claire (though not first kebab – you would be amazed at how much kebab can be tried in 3 days!). Ate those bad boys on the balcony again, then claire, cam and emma went to gorlitzer for Fine’s birthday drinks – excellent warm days!

Emma taught her last class this Monday and could meet with Leigh (looking very sweet and innocent here) and Adam in their neighbourhood earlier in the day, for some shopipng and ice cream in the sun (G&T for adam). Then went to the “Topography of Terrors” outdoor exhibition on the former Gestapo site for some intensity history. home for more sun sitting and bbq time on the balkon – delicimo!

Started the day about Bergmannstrassefest where we got to dine on some fine yeat very affordable eats – see Leigh and Adam below,. Then ventured to Mauer Park for some beers on the grassy knoll, multiple jug purchasing and then further beers in street before going to white trash restaurant for a hearty american style feast.

leigh and adam got to stay in a friend’s flat in Prenzlauerberg for 5 nights, so enjoyed having drinks and dinns about there (leigh and adam eating below) before going to see Tv on the Radio at Astra Club in Friedrichshain! Excellent gig with all the glory songs – staring at the sun and wolf like me being faves. THEN their encore songs included a cover of Fugazi’s “Waiting Room” and then the Ghostbusters theme song!

here we have cam and adam enjoying a beer by Maybucher Ufer before we delved into the deliciousness of the Turkish markets. Spent the evening about Kreuzberg for “fete de la Musique” – day two of kebabs, this time the Sudanese “Nils” kebab. Saw our  friend Emma Davies play in two great and different bands then we went to Gorlitzer park to our friend Dylan play with Böse Bohnen (photo below – also see a photo of leigh and cam on the pu bahn).
